Girl Guides
Jo Osbourne Guide Guider writes:

Kirkheaton Guides has 24 guides, 2 yound leaders and 4 adult leaders.
We do the following things – camping, cooking, arts and crafts, street dance, international evenings including music and food from around the world, canoeing, archery, high ropes, sugar craft and chocolate work.
We have just been on a fantastic PGL adventure holiday and celebrated our Centenary Close at Bradley Wood – over 550 Rainbow, brownies, guides, rangers and leaders from our local Ramsden division attended.
The BIG favourite with Kirkheaton guides is the BIG GIG – this is a guiding only pop concert – we saw JLS, Pixi Lott, Alexandra Burke, Chipmunk and many more all at Wembley Arena.
Kirkheaton Guides is very successful in helping guides achieve the highest award for the guide section the Baden Powell Challenge – 10 challenges from 5 zones and a residential adventure. We also undertake to train young leaders to a point of recognised qualification.
We also provide some community service and have provided emergency food aid for local people via the Welcome centre, Lord Street and bag packed at Sainsbury’s.
We have a waiting list in operation, application forms can be collected from the Headquarters during guiding hours.
