We have now reached the point that a third of House Burglaries within the Kirklees Division have been committed by the offenders snapping the Europrofile Locking Barrels on UPVC Doors.
Unless you have recently changed your Europrofile Locking Barrels to the more secure snap resistant ones, it is likely that those fitted at your home are at risk.
It is essential that you now consider taking steps to replace your existing Europrofiles with ones which are snap resistant. There are two which have reached the Sold Secure Diamond Standard. These are the Avocet ABS and the Yale Anti Snap. They can be purchased from reputable Door ‘Furnishing’ suppliers, locksmiths and hardware shops. This is particularly important on your main exit/entrance door, as this cannot be further secured by Sash (Security) Jammers when you are out of the house. Sash (Security) Jammers should be fitted on the inside of the UPVC Door (Top and Bottom) and these should be used at all times. Even if the Europrofile is snapped, these Jammers will keep the door secure.
The Sash (Security) Jammer is fitted to the door frame and when turned across the actual door, prevents the door from opening. (If the door opens outwards then the Sash Jammer is fitted to the door and when turned it holds onto the door frame, thus preventing the door from opening.)
Sash (Security) Jammers can be purchased on the Internet, or from one of the types of suppliers listed above for the locks. They are also available for sale at the Crime Reduction Offices at both Dewsbury and Kirkburton, at a cost of £3 each. (See below). In addition they can be purchased at the Holmfirth Police Station, Monday to Fridays between 8am and 4pm. (Except 12.30pm to 1.30pm)
If you are ordering a new UPVC Door then insist that in addition to PAS24 Security Standard, it is fitted with one of the new High Security Europrofile Locks as described above.
