[approx 5km / 3 miles]
Houses Hill circular
Start at the side gate of the church opposite the Beaumont Arms. Cross the road and follow the green lane by the back of the Beaumont [sp] Go through the gate and immediately turn left following the wall up the field to a gap between houses leading into Laneside. Turn right, cross the road and after about 60 m turn left up a path [sp]

Follow the path up the hillside until it comes out onto a tarmaced road [Stafford Hill Lane] cross and go along Mountain Way. Continue along Mountain Way following the path behind the cemetery and into the old brickworks where it brings you out into Laneside

Continue along here until you come to a turning on the left[sp] – Long Tongue Scrog. Go up here and take the second signed path on your right[sp – bridle way and cycle/walk path ] Continue along a path made of stone slabs to Houses Hill. As you go downhill it might be very muddy – an alternative to miss the worst in the bottom is to take the path on the left [sp and opposite another path to the right] and cross a field. Where it meets a track turn right back into Houses Hill.

Continue along to the main road and turn right by High Cross [a converted chapel] Follow the road round to Whitley Willows [take care along the road here] and turn right at the footpath sign into the new complex.

Here the path is undergoing changes but you want to head to the stile up on the right. Turn left after the stile and continue to the next stile. Continue through another field until you meet a tarmaced track. Turn left but just before reaching the road turn right over a stile and go up the hill. Go over another stile and cross the field diagonally to a stile up to the left.[If there is a crop in the field it might be better to walk around the edge to the left to reach the stile] Go over another stile which bring you back into Long Tongue Scrog.

Turn left and go down to the road. Turn right and continue past the old brickworks. Turn left between a gap in the wall [sp] and continue to follow Ox Spring Beck across 2 fields back to where you started.
