We apologise for some misinformation concerning the history of the Community Centre which appeared in an article in our most recent edition of Yetton News.
It has been pointed out to us that although Kirklees leased the building from 1986 until 2015 it was run very successfully as a community centre until 2003 by Kirkheaton Community Association. During that time numerous events and activities flourished in the building including two youth groups, art classes, folk dancing, play group and even rock band rehearsals!
The association folded in 2003 due to lack of new volunteers and part of the building was then used by Kirklees to house the library.
Again we can only apologise, especially to the hard working people who were involved with the Community Association and pleased be assured that we will double check our facts in future!
