This year’s Christmas Tree Festival at Kirkheaton Parish Church was another great weekend with over 500 people coming to see the trees on display. There was also a concert and special Carol service. It took place on Saturday 13th and 14th December with live music from local groups ‘Cadenza’ and ‘Special K’, the Kirkheaton Singers and a Recorder group. There was a Christmas concert by the Holme Valley Singers on the Saturday evening.
There were a total of 32 trees, a wood-turning stall, other home made ornaments and a display of stars by Kirkheaton Primary School.
‘So many people commented on what a great atmosphere there was and what a good time they had’, said the Rector, Richard Steel. ‘The most commented on tree this year was definitely the one from Kirkheaton Library, made completely out of real books, with miniature book ornaments.’
‘People were so creative,’ he added. ‘We are grateful to all those who took part and contributed to a really fun community event.’
