What a day! Despite the overcast weather hundreds of people poured onto the gala field to enjoy the 54th Kirkheaton Community Gala. Hade Edge Band led the parade onto the field accompanied by  special visitor Eorl Crabtree, former Huddersfield Giant and England player [Rugby League], who marched along with children from Kirkheaton Youth Football Club. The Gala Royal, Amelia Dickinson arrived in style in a vintage car loaned by Cartwright Cars, along with her attendants, Libbie Haigh [Brownies], Ellie Mai McKinley [Rainbows] and Byron Taylor [Beavers]

The crowds were entertained in the arena with music  by Hade Edge Band, The Rock Choir and local children’s uniformed groups.

An exhibition of dancing was performed by Reverence School of Dance which included  a delightful comedy sequence of Punch and Judy by Imogen and Millie.

On the field was a huge variety of stalls and stands  including  Birds of Prey and Dog Training. Swing boats, bouncy castles, Hook a Duck etc all helped to keep the children entertained. Kirkheaton Youth Football Club provided a very popular barbecue and we even had two bars this year – so everyone in the family was catered for!
