We have recently received the following comments after the last issue of Yetton News
Kath, a resident on Laneside comments on a traffic issue:
“I noticed in the Autumn 2014 issue of Yetton News there was an article about the “rat run” through Lascelles Hall to Kirkheaton. I wondered if any one has mentioned the fact of our “rat run” from Wakefield Road along Lane Side onto St Mary’s Lane?
We get a constant stream of speeding vehicles both morning and early evening along Lane Side as they try to avoid travelling down Wakefield Road towards Waterloo.
We live on Lane Side and have for 30 years and have noticed the traffic gradually increasing at peak times.”
Graham is concerned about possible smells from the landfill site when it it is fully operating.
“Please find the 2 pages from BBC Nottingham. This concerns residents up to 1.2 miles away from the site. We have a whole village and a school within this area . Many elderly people will suffer from the landfill in Kirkheaton. Is it risk assessed ? Have health issues been considered ?”
Ed note: Residents are welcome to attend the Laneside landfill group where representatives from Casey’s, Kirklees Council and the Environment Agency are happy to discuss any concerns. The next meeting is scheduled for Wed 11 March 2015 at 6:30pm at the Parish Centre on Church Lane.
