The following reports have been received:
YT has received a grant for 10 hanging basket brackets from the Huddersfield Common Good Trust. The brackets will be fitted in early spring 2013 on designated lampposts [dependent on strength] in 3 areas of Kirkheaton
A grant application for 20 hanging baskets [additional to the 10 annually supplied by KBPC] has been sent in to KBPC and we should know in January whether our bid has been successful
This has been approved in principle by KBPC. As there has been a number of sites put forward, KBPC are going to consult with Kirklees MC as to the most appropriate position.
Bulbs have been kindly offered by the council for planting and they may be amenable for other things too
Food and Energy Group
Further to the previous report on the mini orchard, an additional two fruit trees have now been received and, at the time of writing, await suitable weather for planting.
There have been no further movements with the ongoing projects.
Good Neighbour Scheme
At a meeting on 7th December the following was decided needed to be set up in the near future:
- A database of volunteers, their strengths, amount of time each willing to give, and do they want to be out in the community, or administration side.
- A dedicated telephone line manned by volunteers
- Adult Safeguarding Training and Group CRB checks
- Volunteers to sign a contract of working practices and put on a probationary period
It was decided to start small, perhaps with shopping and driving people to appointments.
At the PACT meeting held on November 28 in the parish church [see minutes] the idea of a cold calling free zone was suggested.
